In cooperation with policult, paper Media, and ITMO University, the German-Russian Forum will host a BarCamp in St. Petersburg for young professionals interested in alternative formats of science communication.
The BarCamp is intended to provide participants with the potential for realizing such formats in their own countries. We are looking to recruit 40 participants from Belarus, Germany, Russia, and Ukraine.
The BarCamp is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
General Description:
Modern scientific events seek to bring research out of the ivory tower into the public spotlight. While some formats create a great deal of enthusiasm and have become established features of cultural life, others quickly disappear.
We invite journalists, scientists, and organizers of exciting scientific events to exchange experiences and to network across national boundaries.
Participants will determine both the content and structure of the three-day event. They willschedule sessions, give presentations, and share their experiences.
In the evenings, we will gain hands-on experience and organize together three different categories of events: 1) a Science Show 2) a Scientific Barhopping, and 3) a German-Russian Science Slam.
The BarCamp will be held in English. Application deadline: September 9, 2016.
